My hard drive partition setup was C: for program files and D: for user account data. I created a new partition, V: for Vista.
I installed Vista onto V:. I want to uninstall Vista and completely delete that partition. I have a couple issues. Can I just delete that partition, and voila - Vista uninstalled? I was just worried since on Boot-up, I'm presented with a menu to load up Windows (Vista) or 'Earlier version of Windows' (XP), would this menu be gone?
Due to these seperate menus, and the fact that I don't have a Windows CD due to the fact that with my PackardBell it came pre-installed, with a crappy dialog for system restore. Yet, there's no buttons to do it as demonstrated in the manual.
I would really appreciate it if someone could advise me how I can reformat, or restore my computer/Windows as to 'brand new'.
To add to that, I can't system restore, because; Using 'Recovery Program' from Windows Vista boot-up menu, it's just some DOS interface with C:\WINDOWS blinking at me like I'm supposed to do something special round about there. Using 'Recovery Program' from Windows XP simply doesn't do anything, I have to switch the system off. Using 'System Restore' from within XP gives me a program error!, You know, one of those 'program had to close' ones. And so I'm in desperate need of a way to System Restore (I've already backed up files I want to keep) as if my entire system was a brand new windows xp installation.

Erm, I have PartitionMagic, so I'm not asking for a partition device of some sort. I just need some answers to my questions as stated in the first post.

try running diskmgmt.msc. If on vista partition V: it says (Boot) then yeah then bad things happen if you delete it
on the Vista DVD or dvd image you will find "boot" folder with bootsect.exe:
if the (boot) is on C: then After booting into XP run bootsect /nt52 SYS /force then delete vista partition.
